24/7 Emergency Response
Stationary Gas Monitoring

supports a wide range of monitoring applications
Firemaster currently offers stationary gas detectors to cover a wide range of monitoring applications. Each system supports a wide array of sensors, such as H2S, SO2, and LEL, while offering different methods of meeting your safety requirements. If you are unsure about which monitor best suits your job scenario, please contact us at (403) 342-7500.
Our Monitoring Applications
Critical Area Transmitting System –
Off Lease Stationary Air Quality Monitor

- A self contained, stand alone, down wind, toxic gas monitor.
- Modular design, allows for easy transport and deployment.
- 24/7 monitoring, with immediate notification upon detection of H2S or SO2.
- Solar powered with satellite communications for remote deployment.
- Secure data available on-line for easy access at http://tech.firemaster.ca.
- Measures H2S with resolutions as low as 20 ppb to a peak scale of 10 ppm.
- Measures SO2 with resolutions as low as 100 ppb to a peak scale of 10 ppm.
- Wind Anemometer: 0 – 234 km/h / Direction ± 5°.
Proactive Stationary Monitoring Reassures Residents that Air Quality is Safe
The Stationary Air Quality Monitoring System has been a preferred solution by many oil companies due to its robustness and performance in the field. This unmanned system continually monitors concentrations of SO2 and H2S in the air while performing real-time updates to our web server. Upon request, customers can view these updates, in the form of graphs and raw data, by logging on to our secure website site. In the event where a monitor system detects a gas alarm, personnel are immediately notified by our automated text messaging system.
Critical Area Transmitting System
Stand Alone Monitor –
Complete Stand Alone Monitoring On/Off Lease

- Uses BW detector and sensor technology.
- Complete stand alone gas monitor.
- Has visual (strobe) and audible (horn) alarms.
- Configurable to communicate with near by BW Rig Rat Controllers.
- Capable of running two BW Rig Rat sensors.
- Comes with up to two 10′ sensor cables(50′ on request).
- One 45 cubic foot air bottle for air horn operation.
- 2 twelve volt gel cell batteries to operate strobe and air solenoid.
- Intrinsicaly safe: Class 1 Division 2 Groups C,D.
Self Sustained Gas Detector with Audible and Visual Alarms
Originally designed for plant jobs, this intrinsically safe gas monitor can be used for a wide range of applications. Since the SAM is based on Rig Rat technology, this unit offers a wide array of sensors that can be used to meet your safety requirements, such as LEL, SO2, and H2S. What attracts most people to the SAM is that it also contains an onboard horn and strobe that will go off in the event of an alarm. If there are Rig Rat Controllers on site, the detector on the SAM can also be configured to transmit and trip a Rig Rat Controller into alarm.

- Up to four detectors with two sensors each.
- One alarm controller that all detectors communicate to.
- Completely battery operated.
- Comes with one detector/controller charger.
- Supports a wide array of sensors such as H2S, SO2, and LEL.
- Very robust, reliable, and easy to use.
- Intrinsically safe: Class 1 Division 2 Groups C,D.
Wireless Multipoint Gas Detector
The BW Rig Rat system is known internationally for its simplicity and reliable operation. This system is comprised of two components. The first component is the controller that is interfaced to a strobe/horn bar. The second component is a detector that can be interfaced with up to two sensors. In the event where a sensor reaches a gas alarm level, the detector of that sensor wirelessly trips the controller into alarm resulting in a flashing strobe and a sounding horn. It is this basic concept that so many companies have come to confidently rely on in monitoring areas with potential gas leaks.

PUMA
Current conventional hardwire monitoring systems do not allow a single source of monitoring for large multi well projects. The use of multiple small systems on a single location is not feasible; it would be impossible for the operator to efficiently respond in an emergency. With this industry demand for bigger and better systems with flexibility, added control and ease of use, Firemaster accepted the challenge and thus PUMA was developed
PUMA stands for Private Ubiquitous Monitoring Array – Ubiquitous meaning the system has the ability to be everywhere at once. The PUMA is a hard-wire toxic gas detection system that can effectively monitor up to 24 sensors. By default the system is configured for 8 LEL and 16 H2S sensors. However, we can customize this based on the customers’ requirements.
With the hardwire PUMA system we run the sensors to all of the high risk H2S or LEL areas. If any of the enabled sensors detect 10 ppm H2S or a combustible substance the alarms will sound and the light will flash indicating where the gas is present. This detection limit can also be adjusted if required. PUMA alerts personnel to head for the muster area where a head count can be conducted. At this point the rescuers can don their SCBA’s and perform a rescue if required.
Our in house team of Electrical Engineers are developing a wireless module for PUMA which when released will add 16 additional sensor locations – a potential of 40 sensors on one system all easily managed from one central location.
This is another way we are striving to improve our technology to benefit our customers.

Features of PUMA
- We have opted for a touch screen display to control the 24 different channels and corresponding sensors. This allows for very intuitive operation. The operator can simply press a button on the control screen to enable/disable and/or calibrate a sensor.
- The system can also be hooked up to our existing audible and visual signalling devices. We have made provisions to allow us to use the 120V Alarms (legacy items) or the new 24V DC alarms. Using digital technology we are able to produce over 30 different customized sounds.
- PUMA can be further customized to work with most industrial 4 to 20 Milli Amp Sensors to measure Nitrous Oxide, Sulfur Dioxide and Oxygen.
- PUMA logs sensor data in one minute intervals. This data is stored on an on-board SD card allowing Firemaster to produce reports containing archived data which is invaluable in the event of a hazardous gas release.
- This unit was designed to function in all types of weather conditions.
